Working from Home
For those who are working from home, how are you making the best use of this situation? Anything that you've managed to spend more time on due to the quarantine?

My biggest suggestion? Standing desk. These things are friggin' awesome. Keeps me engaged, helps my posture, and burns some calories.

Now I know what you're thinking. These things are expensive. Yes. But I've got the solution.

IKEA has this standing desk for only $269:

The catch? It's manual. Instead of an expensive electric motor system, you use a hand crank to adjust the height. It takes 30-60 seconds to move from sitting to standing, but who cares? It's not that difficult and saves you a bunch of money.

I've been using an ab wheel a few times during the day.

For the most part, I've been able to focus on one project instead of jumping around from different project to different project. I prefer the latter, but focusing on one project has been nice because it's different.

I need to get out of my desk chair more and step outside.

I built myself a standing desk from wood and pipes. Couldn't even tell you how much it costs. $20 maybe? Assuming you've got a sander and drill and stuff or are willing to do it the hard way.

Desk towards the window, get some sunlight.

Change into normal working clothes.

Follow a to-do list.

Stick to listening to instrumental music and avoid podcasts and music with lyrics.

Start with creative work, move to mundane/routine work after lunch

And some slightly different, now that you're working from home:

Take a nap at noon

Do some exercise at early afternoon, return for one more hour of work

As a person who did a whole lot of home office before being quarentined, here are my tips:

-Excersise in the morning before working. I do not have a fixed schedule, so I can always snooze a bit more, or even start earlier. If i don't excercise, i generally skip breakfast.
-Shower early
-Im not a fan of dressing to work at home. I always have sweat pants and tshirts, but if it is good for you, then do it.
-Get a good office chair. Forget gaming chairs, they are expensive designer chairs, designed to look cool. They will break quicker than same priced office chairs and will not be as ergonomic.
-Make a to-do list.
-Make sure you have a proper desk/working space. The ikea Skarska, as mentioned here is a solid basic desk. Standing up is a must.
-If you have many conference calls, a bluetooth headset is also a must. Jabra Evolve 65 is a good standard. Walk around the room you're in.
-Make sure you use your breaks to go out of the door, even if is just up and down the stairs or to your balcony. If you can, go and walk around your block. Make sure at the end of the day you went out of your house.
-Don't think you will be able to cook lunch in time. Unless is something very basic you won't. If it involves cutting veggies, you wont. If its more complicated than a steak or pan fried eggs, just forget it. Just have it ready from the day before.
-Most important, if you do not live alone, when someone tries to interrupt, dont say a thing. Just make the phone hand gesture and point at your headset. For some reason, people think that if you're at home you are always available.

I'm usually an afternoon lifter. Since starting WFH, I've been walking less because I'm not commuting/moving around the office as much. To fix this, I started going for an hour walk first thing in the morning. It's been a fantastic change and does make my day better. There's something to getting the blood flowing first thing that carries you all day.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do a bodyweight exercise set before lunch. On the other days I go out for a 5 KM run. I make sure to take a 2-hour lunch break, to be able to clear my mind. Not having to commute is great!
