Quote:Editors’ note, January 2020: Many stories have promoted an unverified theory that the Wuhan lab discussed in this article played a role in the coronavirus outbreak that began in December 2019. Nature knows of no evidence that this is true; scientists believe the most likely source of the coronavirus to be an animal market.

The bit of post-mortem Chinese defense added to this article, well after the fact, further illustrates just how desperate they are to dismiss and cover things up. They know that the fact people have been warning about this lab for years would make them look terrible and are buying off as many scientists as possible to save face.
Wait.... you cite the source one minute, then claim it's been compromised by Chinese political interests (or perhaps (((other))) interests the next.

That, dear sir, is shifting of goalposts that would make the DNC blush. Come on now, is it a credible source or not?

Quote:And for God's sake, quit reading Zerohedge - they're just another fake inside-scoop "newsletter" site making bank off conspiracies by running ads for gold-pushing scam artists over at Stansberry research and their feel-good pal, (((James Altucher))).

If that was the case, it wouldn't be so bad. But I'm afraid it's much worse than that for Zerohedge. At the bottom of Zerohedge, it reads:

Copyright ©2009-2020 ZeroHedge.com/ABC Media, LTD

ABC media is owned by Disney. At least James Altucher has some kind of conservative views, here and there.

That said, there are a few writers on Zerohedge I enjoy, and apparently when they sold out to ABC these writers were able to keep their voice and comment sections so I still enjoy and link to them.

At some level, we all work for Boss Jew anyways, so it's not a big a deal as you think it is if you can prove someone is owned by (((them))).

Touché.

False, because there is no reason why Paddock would give up his millionare retirement for a mass shooting spree.

That barely goes to motivation, let alone proof. Robin Williams was worth 50-100 million and he axed himself. So what? Maybe Paddock was just a lonely Boomercuck who wanted to take out happy people on his way out the door.

Yeah, and if he told the jailers he was suicidal they might have actually watched him a bit more closely. They did not, and he succeeded at killing himself. But I guess the illuminati falsified their logs and told them not to check?

Have you seen rates on Hotels.com or Booking.com?

I exclusively stayed in hotels for my 5-month USA trip. They are extremely affordable as long as you are not in the dead center of a city. A 1.5 or 2 star hotel is easily under $100 a night. In many cases, Airbnb is the same price or more expensive. The only real advantage of Airbnb is having a kitchen, but lots of hotels have them now if you find a suite or "extended stay" company.

Interesting. I haven't so I don't know if this is true outside of the US also. When I moved out of NZ I have been staying in hostels as the cheapest accommodation. But I've been told as a group that Airbnbs were cheaper.

Divorce rates jumping in corona-quarantined couples
Quote:Divorce filings are skyrocketing from quarantine-weary and financially stressed couples, according to top matrimonial attorneys, who are experiencing a 50 percent rise in inquiries from potential clients.

According to leading Manhattan family-law experts, some couples forced to spend time together while quarantined in cramped apartments or even in palatial pads haven’t fared well during the coronavirus outbreak.

Making matters worse, dramatic sways in the financial markets will further spur a wave of wealthy divorces, because richer spouses may decide they want out while their net worth dips — potentially helping them avoid larger settlements, legal experts say.

NYC power divorce attorney William D. Zabel, a founding partner of Schulte Roth & Zabel, told Page Six, “We’ve had an increased amount of calls in the past week from people seeking representation for divorce proceedings, a 50 percent increase, and I have been hearing the same from my colleagues at other firms.”

Zabel — whose clients have included Jane Welch during her divorce from late GE CEO Jack Welch, billionaire George Soros, golfer Greg Norman, Howard Stern and Matt Lauer — explained, “People who have enjoyed busy lives suddenly find themselves confined together, at a time of incredible anxiety.” He added, “If wealthy people are looking for a rationale for divorce, an economic downturn is often a motivation — the net worth of the moneyed spouse is lower, and therefore a settlement could be lower. I anticipate there will be a number of high-profile divorce cases in the coming months.”

Melissa Thoen, a couples’ therapist and the clinical director of the Ackerman Institute for the Family in NYC, told The Post, “Many fights coming out of this will stem from not having space, and being overwhelmed,” adding that in Xi’an, China, requests for divorce from couples coming out of months-plus-long quarantines cannot be processed fast enough.

< I am less concerned about a few rich liberals divorcing. That even aids the economy because those ex-wives set up shop and spend a lot.

The bigger issue will be the middle class divorces which are not as profitable for the lawyers, but will wreck society far more.

Nah, occam's razor is used to cut between two alternatives, as the name implies.

Let's say your guy comes out of breath and I think well he's probably been beaten by thugs, had to run to the next police station where he was told to fuck off, then ran to the hospital to get his wounds treated.
Then comes your cardiologist and he thinks the guy is just having a stroke.

Well what's the most probable hypothesis ?
Mine obviously, this is what occam's razor tells me Smile

When this is all over I hope this is not forgotten and that there is a move to make the Airbnb business model illegal. It's absolutely a real form of class warfare, benefiting the wealthy (who buy up properties to rent out) and those wealthy enough to travel and rent those properties (a huge percentage of whom simply want to post pictures of their super cool and unique accommodations on social media, because hotels are for plebs, right?). And the losers are the lower and working class who get locked out of the property market entirely and forced to pay ever-higher rents, as the pool of long-term rentals shrinks due to more and more properties being converted to short-term Airbnb rentals. Like so many other examples in the so-called "sharing economy", it's just another shitty, exploitative business model that passes its negative externalities onto society as a whole.

From what I can tell, hotels are ridiculously expensive, and hostels are downright claustrophobic and grotty. Airbnb is the only type of accommodation for travellers which is reasonably priced and habitable(cheapest option overall in groups of 4+). What would you suggest as an alternative for travellers? I concur with this, hotel rates have gone down in the West.

AirBnB, like Uber, do have their place, because they are a free market solution to a planned economy problem.

Both hotels and taxis have been highly regulated and thus too expensive, but Uber and AirBnB are under-regulated, leading to other problems.

The problem is not taxis or hotels, regulations or lack of regulations.

It's that too many people work too far away from their home, and live too far away from their friends and family, and therefore need a car to have a semblance of a normal life; and too many people engage in tourism instead of exploring their own backyards because they are too empty inside to even take an interest in something other than novelty.

Pandemics are part and parcel of living in an industrial system.
