If yes , how many tubes should i buy ?

Last year, I took a tube with Vitamin C in Albania during summer.

Maybe people were scared and bought everything?

You can Vitamin C with tablets by drinking water.

It it is not absolutely neccessary to take Vitamin C that desolves in water.

The effect is the same.

RE: The Coronavirus Pandemic thread
Currently in the Midwest and can confirm that local Walmarts and Costco have run out of most sanitary things. However, people are not taking things seriously at all. I overheard your typical blonde girl talking to a cashier about how she had survived (insert major life event of the past 15 years) so she wasn't worried about it all.

Amazon is sold out of respirator masks and so are local Home Depots. No harm in getting a few things together if you haven't done so just in case. I have the necessary household items always in stock for up to 3 months even if there is nothing going on. Food wise I always have a months worth of supplies and have extended it to two months. I ferment a lot of vegetables in mason jars and my freezer is full of high quality farm raised meat. I only consume distilled water, which, in the future I will drop a datasheet on, simply because many forum bros seem to think it is bad for you and depletes your body of minerals.

Luckily I work in IT so I can work from my apartment for as long as necessary and continue to make money.

I realize Costco is a popular place to grocery shop and bulk up and we keep getting reports of "Costco swamped and sold out"

It'd be nice to get reports on groceries other than Costcos as there's way more places to shop than just them. FWIW I went to a 'regular' non-Costco grocery today and there was plenty of everything. Then again, no reported cases in my area (yet).

RE: The Coronavirus Pandemic thread
Panic buying starred on Wednesday in some areas.

I stocked up on some food and other items last Monday and Tuesday. I am only shopping for one person so buying up enough for a month or two is not that much of a problem. I didn't want to be hauling a lot of stuff all at once so I would do my regular shopping plus added extra long lasting no refrigerator needed items to the reserve. I even stocked up on a few months of cat and bird food since that stuff lasts like a year or two.

What was out of character for my shopping is that I also bought things like lighters, stick matches, and ordered a low end VHF 4 watt transceiver; but that was only like about $30 in total and will last forever. (Do matches or lighters ever expire?)

At this point I am reluctant to really add much of anything to the 'reserves' since my plan is that over time I will eat things that are only a month or two left to expiration and rotate in new items, so I don't want anything in the stockpile that I wouldn't be able to eat and rotate with newer ones. I am still thinking about adding baby formula and feminine hygiene products to the reserves but am reluctant to do so since I, myself, have no use for and after a while would need to find someone to give them away to. I was thinking about adding some liquor to the stockpile since that stuff usually has a long shelf life.

On Wednesday afternoon I talked with someone that said in the New York Chinatown area people had started buying everything up, just in case. I recommended to other people that I know that they should make sure they have at least two weeks of stuff on hand at all times. There is a CNN report of panic buying in Hawaii of panic buying, on Wednesday, at Costco plus various other cities over the past few days. As long as people buy stuff they would use anyways, and it is all long lasting, I think this will help in the end. It will give everyone time to stock up and make sure that even if the stores close everyone will be ok.

If everyone has a stockpile of a few weeks worth of stuff there would be no need for anyone to panic if the stores close, it would be like a long holiday week.

In Italy the death rate is around 1.5% and 1/3 of the patients have been cured.

Absolutely not - they are toxic - they have at least aspartame or other destructive sweeteners added, also they add other ingredients which blocks the vitamin C.

Just order it online - 2-3 days and it's yours. http://www.swansonvitamins.com

Many health food stores have supplements by Now Foods or Swanson. You could even buy some pure powder.

Wearing surgical masks, climbing on places they shouldn’t be to grab what they want. Not to mention their general obliviousness to anyone around them. So crowded there’s just enough room to get through an aisle, and a Chinaman will roll up and decide that’s the best place to stop and look around, thus blocking a long line of people trying to get through.

As I was checking out, the girl bagging my stuff showed me a pic her friend sent her from a nearby Costco. There was one sack of rice left on the top shelf, and there was a chinaman climbing up the shelf to get it.

Anyone who has been to major tour sites in America or internationally would not be surprised at all by this behavior by the Chinese.

For those interested I did a Vitamin C Megadose thread:

https://www.rooshvforum.com/thread-74755.html

Seems like they send most positive-tested people home and tell them to self-quarantine. It's a better solution than being carted off by a Chinese SWAT team and ashes delivered back after God-knows what kind of treatment while surrounded by people who are in much worse condition than you are.

So it's ideal for something like that.

The good news is that theres hours and hours of free cartoon videos on YouTube to keep the girls occupied while you wait it out

NIH paper on SARS and other viruses survivability on stainless steel surfaces from 2010:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2863430/

NOTE: This is a study on a comparable virus, SARS, since COVID-19 is too recent.

The short form is that at 40C viruses did not seem to be able to live at all. At 20C (68F) it looks like the virus could last 2 or 3 days. The best they saw a virus survive was at 4C (around 38F) and as long as 28 days.

In Albania you don't have all this choice. You get a few vitamin or complement models from a few european brands. I went to 6 pharmacies today and noone has Vitamin C in powder.
Additionally , you pay tax for everything above 20 dollars when you order something online.
I am not complaining , but i think i m running out of choices. I took those tubes and the prices have rocketed ( around 8 euro for a tube in some places) , i saw many people at the pharmacy asking for sanitizers and vitamin C who ended up not buying because prices were delirious.

Adding to this there is nowhere to buy masks here. And if someone has he kept everything for his family. I ve ordered online some ffp3 masks but the ebay seller didnt even send with a tracking number. The time that it comes here , it will either be stolen or lost.

So far no panic here , but as soon as the first case will be announced , it will be mayhem.

Tomorrow i will finish my stocks of food and a bit more vitamin C and then my destiny is in the hands of God.

There is also a big political really organised by the president Meta - so more than 50k people will show up. The virus is probably already here , so this is just insane.

I have ordered my wife and kids to stay home and to not let anyone in. I am probably overreacting but I can catch this virus at work. Better be safe.

Much weirder is the fact that people buy and stock paper toilet, or canned food or whatever, but no weapons. I mean, the Walmart's shelves that should be raided, are the knives, axes, and ammo ones.

For what is the use of food you store, if you don't buy weapons to fence off your soon-to-starve careless neighbours (or despairing roaming migrants)?

Any food you own in times of huge crisis, is only worth the knife or gun you'll defend it with.

If you weren't raised by gun people, there's a very small chance of you being good enough with a gun to hold your own vs a pack of looters. A great majority of first worlders weren't born into that culture and have no hope of cramming good marksmanship and positioning skills in the short run-up before a crisis.

(03-01-2020 10:08 AM)One Dollar Pizza Wrote:  I live in Denver, Colorado and I see no signs of pandemic or panic whatsoever.

I was out last night and no one was wearing masks (including Asians) and it seemed completely normal.

It was less crowded than usual for a Saturday night. And the weather was pleasant (55-60 degree F). A bit strange.

This was near University of Denver and Cherry Creek North.

It looks like pandemic will start in Denver soon...international conference with 10,000 guests cancelled. Front page of Denver Post:

Quote:International Denver conference, expected to draw 10,000, canceled due to coronavirus

American Physical Society’s March Meeting was supposed to start Monday

A conference expected to draw 10,000 people to Denver this week — many from other countries — was canceled at the last minute Saturday due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the new coronavirus.

The decision to cancel the American Physical Society’s March Meeting, which was scheduled to start Monday, drew criticism from some travelers who were already in Denver or en route when the announcement was made Saturday night.

Increased risk surrounding the coronavirus disease led organizers to cancel the week-long conference, which was to be held at the Colorado Convention Center downtown, according to a statement on the society’s website.

“The decision to cancel was based on the latest scientific data being reported, and the fact that a large number of attendees at this meeting are coming from outside the U.S., including countries where the CDC upgraded its warning to level 3 as recently as Saturday, February 29,” the statement said.

A spokeswoman for the American Physical Society, a nonprofit headquartered in Maryland that works to increase knowledge about physics, did not immediately return requests for comment Sunday.

Some people who’d planned to attend the conference expressed frustrations that the event was canceled only 36 hours before it was scheduled to start, while others applauded the society for canceling the conference in light of increased concerns about COVID-19.

On Saturday, the first death in the United States from the novel coranavirus was reported in Washington state, and more than 50 people in that area are sick and being tested for the virus. The governor of Washington declared a state of emergency as authorities across the West Coast braced for additional cases.

Santiago Nunez-Corrales, a graduate student at the University of Illinois, said he arrived in Denver with his wife around 6 p.m. Saturday. Both had planned to present research at the conference.

“We understand the responsible thing to do was to cancel the conference,” Nunez-Corrales said. “What seems rather inconvenient is the timing.”

He and his wife wanted to return to Chicago as quickly as possible, and on a direct flight, in order to minimize their potential exposure to COVID-19, he said. But they delayed their return until Tuesday because flights before then were between $500 and $800, he said, adding that he believes the conference should have made the call about canceling earlier.

“In my case, I study here in the U.S.,” he said. “It’s not a big deal for travel distance. But many people I know from other countries, they arrived here after several hours of travel to find themselves stranded without having a conference.”

He added that for graduate students, who are often on a tight budget and pay for travel to conferences out of pocket, expecting to later be reimbursed, the cancellation raises uncertainty about whether universities will reimburse expenses when the conference never happened.

Get what vitamin C you can, doesn't matter what form. Not sure what else. I know you can get chloroquine and stuff at pharmacies as well but I have read some scary things about the long-term effects of it. Stick to drinking tonic water and hope it mitigates the flu to some extent.

RE: The Coronavirus Pandemic thread
There is a case in Florida which has nothing to do with the cruise ship.
It hasn't been announced yet.

Authorities have asked for 3 times to be tested to be sure.
Actually according to my source USA is the only country not using the same test than others - and apparently it works horribly badly . That s the reason why the New York state has has started to develop their own .

Another unverified news from this source ; there would be more than 1000 dead in Iran.
