Watch out with contact/fighting/grapling sports during the flu season as well, I got a very bad case of the flu from that last winter.

Hard to internalize, but a good idea non the less. Also keeping your fingernails short will help, since it`s a good place for pathogens to hide out.

2 confirmed cases in France now, so this thing is definitely spreading fast. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/01/f...52666.html

Reminds me of the Soderberg movie Contagion.

Our fear of death is so great that we fatally wound ourselves when trying to run from it.

Is isolating yourself in your home even a viable solution? What kind of time span, or duration of isolation would be necessary? (How long is this supposed to last?)

I have a better idea, let`s close all borders in all Western nations. (and stop all trade with Asia)

It's viable if you have a viable solution for it. If you live in a small NYC apartment with 3 roommates good luck. If you live in Adirondacks on 50 acres with 2 years worth of the food and ammo you're probably safe to wait things out.

Most of us probably don't have the luxury of a fallout shelter so some basic prep might be good as you probably need to venture out.

On the off chance this gets really bad and you cannot maintain a no-human contact approach I would say aim for the following;

*Minimal contact
*If you have a job where you can isolate yourself use it
*If you go out wear gloves, some lightweight protective glasses and some kind of surgical mask(N95+)
*Never touch face, eyes with hands if you touched anything and wash your hands throughly(30 secs, soap, between fingers under your nails).
*Don't touch things like door noobs, railings....use glove or your shirt when you can
*Don't eat food handled by others
*Stock up on canned supplies
*Cash on hand
*Weapons(won't fight the flu but good to have as last resort for looters)

If i had to give a couple health hacks for illnesses in general;

*If you feel anything coming on start fasting and consume little food. Seriously this is probably the best piece of info I've discovered in my life. If I start getting sick Im fasting and drinking some bone broth maybe with some crackers if I get hungry enough. Modern humans make a big fuck up eating they are sick. Note that animals don't eat when they are sick, its for a reason.

*Don't train if you are coming down with something. The worst possible thing you could do would be going for PRs at the gym when you first get infected. You'll be seriously fucked.

The above two is really crucial in that period when you first get infected but you don't have obvious symptoms.

Disgusting as it is, I wonder if the bat/mice/snake meat angle is something the Chinese government is pushing to cover for a leak from Wuhan's BSL-4 lab. There are bushmeat markets all over southern China, but only one of those research facilities in the entire country.

The stuff marked in red is not necessarily good advice. You don't contract viruses through the skin of your hands. Someone with the flu can sneeze on your hands all day long and you wont contract it (open wounds withstanding).

People that wear PPE (personal protective equipment) often enter into a false sense of security. They'll wear gloves, a mask and glasses then rub their eyes with the gloves on for example. Similarly you are ill advised to open a door with your shirt. Now the virus in on your shirt. Your shirt is touching your belt and your pants. Two hours later you wash your hands, get undressed (ding ding), brush your teeth and you're infected. You are literally better off opening the door with your hands when you treat your hands as agents of infection, not your shirt.

The reality is you have to build a mindset of imagining your head like a sacred temple that nothing may touch, and everything below your neck as being filthy 100% of the time. The mask and the glasses make sense to avoid droplets from a random sneeze but the gloves are useless in a non-medical setting. Their purpose in a hospital is to allow a nurse to do dozens of procedures an hour on different patients and dispose of the "top layer of skin" (the glove) rather than having to wash her hands 12 times an hour which invariably leads to open wounds.

The idiots running Western hospitals require them to wash their hands anyway AND use anti-bacterial hand solution which is poorly effective against viruses but you are not burdened by a retarded bureaucracy like they are so you can ignore that nonsense.

Trains of infection are almost impossible to eliminate when you look hard enough. Did you empty your pockets before or after you took your gloves off? Did you take your gloves off using the correct procedure? Are you disinfecting your phone? Your keys? Your wallet? You've stopped using cash perhaps, but are you still tapping your card against the same readers that thousands of other people are using?

Food is an impossible screening process unless you're literally growing your own. You can only reduce your odds of contracting a common virus, not eliminate it.

Other than that the entire game relies on protecting your face and any open wounds. Treat your hands like they're covered in dog-shit 24/7 then try not to get that dog-shit on your face. That's the best you can do.

God demands of Man responsibility. God demands of Woman vulnerability. These are their curse and blessing alike. Libertianism is to Man as Feminism is to Woman.

Since Badminton is played on wide, open outdoor spaces, assuming you're getting there by your own car, I'm sure it would be harmless. It's not even remotely comparable to being in a crowded building or a subway train.

p.s. or is it different in Canada? I always played it on giant grassy plains outdoors, but from what I read now, in many places it's a strictly indoor activity...

Probably right around the time that they are militarily active in 135 countries, spreading depleted uranium in multiple theatres of war, generally bombing shit to smithereens and generally behaving as if they own the fucking planet.

Bonus points if they spread a vapid, vulgar and repugnant popular culture and 'progressive' ideas, and attempt to compel populations to eat genetically-modified crap controlled by their corporations.

When all that happens I'll give the idea some consideration.
