RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
When he had that audience and he did the Bible series I though "Your life is about to get difficult if you don't use this opportunity God has given you".

God is stripping him down, I hope he will come back just as hard as he did before but this time using his gift of articulating ideas for talking sense rather than nonsense.

He won't. The best thing that can happen for Jordan Peterson is for him to step down and live a private life again. He has a lot more learning to do before he should ever start teaching. Hopefully he learned something from his most recent setback, but if Vox Day is at all correct about his tendencies (an extreme case of gamma behavior primarily) it's probably not going to happen. But we will unfortunately probably see more of him in the near future -- as more and more young people start to wake up, the beast will find it necessary to prop up more and more gate keepers.

RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
You have no idea what God's plan is for Peterson.

When Roosh came to God he didn't walk out on his podcasting and the forum. He had the humility to continue on and provide an example to the rest of us. There is immense value in seeing pubic figures in the infancy of their journey to God. I helps us understand that for everyone no matter how wealthy or famous, the journey has to start in the same place. If Peterson simply fades away then it will be a missed opportunity. For someone like him to say "I was wrong on God" would be immense. That doesn't mean he has to immediately start running seminars on the topic. The value is there simply by someone who is a highly respected academic turning toward's God's divine grace.

There will be many appealing to false pride that he should cower shamefully in the dark while repenting his heresies, as if any Christian must train in secret until they reach a level worthy of proclaiming themselves redeemed through Christ. Those appealing to Pride and it's ugly brother Shame should be put on mute and ignored.

RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
Peterson stepped into territory he really shouldn't have with that Bible series. As JBP is someone who couldn't clearly answer whether he believed in God, (which to me indicated he didn't) then to have such a series was perhaps putting God to the test. To preach the Bible as a piece of evolutionary psychology is an abomination, nevermind an insult to the Christian Western Culture he purports to represent.

I can't speak for whether Peterson has changed towards God and will come forward as a Christian. I agree with Leonard that it would help, but also that quiet time to strengthen would be needed. Still, Roosh is a early middle aged man swearing off his youth, vs. Peterson is an older man who would have to swear off his whole lifes' work. Obviously this isn't in anyway impossible but its a bigger swing for an older guy.

I think of the difficulty of Jesus Christ bringing the sword, and dividing us against our own families, giving our loyalty to God first. Will Peterson's daughter be coming along with him on this journey? I see a mature man with secular children would particularly struggle with this reality. He didn't raise his kids Christian, and now if he becomes one, he will be in a way separated from them. I think this might be as difficult as his supposed ego.

Still it has happened before and will happen again. God knows. I hope that he finds his path with God, whether he is public about it or not. Perhaps he is finally taking the time to read that Bible. (And 200 years together)

For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Rom 1:22

You're right in that yes, God can do whatever he wants with Jordan Peterson. But God also did give humans reason, and as E. Michael Jones says, God operates along the highest reason -- logos. We can still use our understanding of reason to make predictions about people's religious futures -- I don't believe that is blasphemous. I want Jordan Peterson to repent and kneel before God just as much as you do. But I still don't think he will.

Roosh and Jordan Peterson are fundamentally different. Roosh had always seeked the truth, even when it was hard. Being called the 'rape king' wasn't fun -- he was slandered across the western world as a mysoginist and rape advocate for a while. But he never backed down. He always sought the truth. This is why he eventually took the God pill -- it was just the natural conclusion to the Red Pill line of reasoning -- as it is the natural conclusion to any true line of reasoning.

Jordan Peterson is a different story. He was a shill from the start. I highly recommend Vox Day's Jordanetics. The guy does not seek truth in itself -- the truth is a means to an end for Peterson; an end that includes book deals and whatever drugs he's hooked on. He said a few true things that got him controversy enough to get into the media limelight, like at the Kathy Newman interview, but at the end of the day he's just a gatekeeper. He kicked out Faith Goldy from his event, he claimed Kavenaugh should step down if elected, he is now trying to make Christianity something purely metaphorical -- I don't know what else to say about the guy but that that he will lead you down the wrong path.

I haven't seen him pushing any of his old lines in the last few weeks but according to you, you are able to predict his future and damn him accordingly.

I was never a follower of Peterson, either before or after I accepted Christ's offer of salvation. I will continue to hope for Peterson to step away from his past dogma and towards redemption. Pre-damning him based on his past is not only at odds with Christianity but simply uncharitable and counter-productive in a general sense.

Such as he was given the power to lead people astray he still possesses the power to call them to God. Nothing is gained by discrediting that as a possibility or presuming his spiritual failure.

RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
I posted in the God pill thread earlier that a friend of mine has just been turned to Christ. I will mention here that the original disdain he had for the Bible and Christianity was, at least in part, lifted through his exposure to Jordan Peterson.

About two years ago he came across his videos. He didn't stay there. He was very excited by the man's words during 6 months and then moved on to other people. He never even mentioned him again after that time, that I recall.

Now he has accepted Christ. I made a post earlier in this thread about this exact journey.

Quote:God works in mysterious ways.

There are many accounts of people coming to Christ through JP - because he is so superficial it actually got the foot in the door for people who wouldn't dare thread deeper initially. And these people usually go way beyond JP - they actually become Christians. I also know some guys that had the basic bitch atheist mindset starting to doubt this, and giving Christianity another look, because of JP. They might be on the way as well to something more.

Has anyone come to Christ through Owen or Vox?

Bear in mind I sympathize with Owen and have expressed it in the past, particularly because of the lifestyle he chose - but I doubt, even adjusting for audience size, he has had such an influence as JP has. And Vox I can imagine him actually turning people away from Christ due to his prideful attitude. He is the classic example of nominal Christian without any charity, which leads people on the outside away from Christianity because of the sheer hypocrisy of his beliefs versus his actions.

It's like that phenomenon when you are starved, you can't gorge on food as long as it's available. You have to go slow or you will just vomit it out. Start with a cracker. JP is a cracker for a western population completely starved of logos. Not many people stay in the JP stage. Most go beyond. But they wouldn't even start the journey without a milder sort to ease them into it.

Pandemics are part and parcel of living in an industrial system.

I wonder if Peterson knew what was coming down the line from his paymasters hence the attack of conscience, depression and his escape to Russia.

You have to be smart to get into JP but you have to be wise to see his deceptions and move past it or you'll remain a hedonistic libertarian only with a clean room.

Someone should post that photo of him at dinner with exclusively "chosen" ones, says enough. Shabbos goy #1.

Having said that, he offers an accessible entrance to conservatism that I'm not sure would exist with his absence. The first (lobster) chapter was good in his 12 rules book, the rest was pedantic.
