I'm guessing AOC will be the democratic nominee in 2024, as they will shift full on bat shit crazy

But who will be on the right? I guess Ted Cruz could try again?

Modern right wing political leaders are terrible at grooming the next gen to takeover.

One of the most important things Trump could do is find a viable future candidate or two and give them as much shine as possible during the last two years of his office.

That was supposed to say "Nikki Lena" the former governor of South Carolina, I think she is the closest thing we have to a Maga candidate for 2024

There is a very weird software glitch on this board that turns SC politician Nikki Ha1ey's last name into Nikki Lena (<I actually didn't type "Lena" there, but H a l e and y!). Maybe Ha1ey was the name of a coder's ex or something...

Cuomo is currently auditioning for the nomination, he's getting 10x the exposure of Sleepy Joe, performing reasonably well, and has a whole lot less baggage. He can definitely beat Trump in OH, PA and MI. PA for instance is 1/4 Catholic, mostly whites and majority Trump voters, he can win that demographic.

Cuomo and Newsom have mismanaged covid, being mostly reactive, but are faring well now as they are telegenic and skillful communicators who will be propped and adulated by the MSM, while Trump is going to get the blame.

By mid to late April, the number of covid deaths in the US will be over 1000/day, Trump wants to err on the side of the economy (which actually might be a reasonable policy choice), but he will get clobbered for making that choice, and Cuomo will use that well against Trump.

If I were a betting man, I would put money on Cuomo to win the nom and the presidency. He has already surged to 3rd place ahead of Bernie in the latest oddsmakers charts, but is still a very good value at 22 to 1. I'd give him maybe a 4 to 1 or 3 to 1 odds of becoming the next POTUS, so he's an excellent value in pure betting terms.

Newsom is not even listed in the presidential odds, so one could presumably get odds like 50 to 1 on him. Another great value, I would give him 7 or 8 to 1 odds to win POTUS.

If Trump had a smart team behind him, his campaign (but not he himself) would be going hard against Cuomo right now, at least indirectly.

That would kind of validate Cuomo's candidacy and elevate his profile. At this point Trump should be presidential, collaborate with him and try to save lives in NY, which after all is his home state...

Remind us what those were.

Bush - Iraq invasion that left Hussein in power?

Exactly, leaving Saddam Hussein in power was 100% the right thing to do. Just look at the tremendous clusterfuck that ensued once Bush's imbecile son decided to "finish the job" that was already finished.

Also, Clinton bombed Serbia (a stupid war by any measure, but still) but stopped after Kosovo was safe, and didn't invade it or force regime change there.

Compare that with Bush Junior and Obama either putting boots on the ground in an unwinnable war, or bombing/funding separatism the country into oblivion so that it turns into a complete shithole with open air slave markets.

Compared to the incredible idiocy/evil of Bush Junior and Obama, Clinton and Bush Senior are like a modern-day George Washington.
